for professional development purposes would be
supported and guided by an experienced mentor

Developing a Qualification for Healthcare
Chaplaincy
  • Project group remit
  • To commission a single or collaborative group of
Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) who will
thereafter work on a chaplaincy qualification

8
Building on the work of Chaplaincy Academic and
Accreditation Board
  • Chaplaincy is a graduate profession
  • Candidates should be able to fulfil entry
    requirements for post graduate study
  • A professional register should contain the names
of individuals who meet the standards required to
practice stating the level at which the chaplain
    is qualified
  • Chaplaincy is working towards registration as an
    Associated Health Profession
  • A recognised educational base and career
structure will be required for registration
  • With the professional organisations NES is taking
the lead to develop and initiate a qualification
    for healthcare chaplaincy in Scotland
