Title: What were doing

1
What were doing
  • Aims
  • To develop a recording, taking account of
    audience and purpose.
  • Objectives
  • In this lesson you will capture the speech for
    your recording.
  • You will assemble the various takes, and add
sound effects and music to produce the first
    version of your advertisement.

Activity 1 (5 mins)
  • Load guitar.wav into Audacity using
    ProjectgtImport Audio menu item
  • Load car ad.wav into Audacity using
    ProjectgtImport Audio menu item
  • Use the amplify effect to make the speech
    clearly audible over the music

6
Voiceovers
  • A spoken part, which is added to other sounds to
make a finished recording is called a
    voiceover.
  • They are often created by actors or celebrities
  • See some examples of how people make a living out
    of creating voiceovers at
  • http//www.voiceovers.co.uk/

7
Takes
  • Recording a perfect voice over first time is very
    hard, if not impossible.
  • Most of the time, you will need to have several
    attempts at getting it right
  • Each attempt is called a take.
  • The best bits from several takes can be edited
together to come up with the best recording
  • You did this in the first lesson when you removed
the mistakes from the given recording.

8
Activity 2
  • Working from your script, record the
    narration/dialogue into Audacity.
  • Record as many takes as you need, and edit the
takes together to produce a final result.
  • Add music and sound effects by loading into
Audacity using the ProjectgtImport Audio option.
  • Move audio using the Align Tracksgt With cursor
    option under the Project menu.
