Educo World Alliance

• Educo was started in Canada in 1969 and currently
  operates in six countries, on FIVE continents!
• Educo Africa officially launched in 1994 and runs
  70 programmes a year, directly impacting about
  2000 participants.
• The use of experiential methodology forms the
  foundation of our practice.
• The focus is on three pillars Healing,
  Empowerment, Training Development.
• This translates into three programme areas
  Wilderness Therapy, Leadership Development
  Capacity Building in various projects.

  classroom.

  specially designed to call forth a deepening of
  personal mastery, authentic leadership and
  responsible, positive, contributive citizenship,
  as well as deep care for our environment.

SISONKE HIV AIDS PROJECT

• The Project works with
• AIDS orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs)
• Child headed families (CHFs)
• HIV infected and affected youth
• Caregivers, lay counsellors, peer educators, end
  of life practitioners (hospice and similar
  midwives)
• Faith-based, community-based, and
  non-governmental organizations

• The Project has particularly focused on
• combating stigma and discrimination
• re-inspiring a sense of value, hope and a
  holistic practice for living a productive life
• enhancing the regeneration of family units and
  preventing their further
• fragmentation and disintegration, since they
  form the foundation of community
• restoring the dignity of those on the threshold
  of dying

• From 2007 Educo Africa is exploring three
  somewhat different Capacity Building Models in
  the context of HIV/AIDS, namely
• Building the capacity of specific NGO or CBO
  client-partners in the HIV/AIDS sector
• Building capacity within a geographically defined
  community as part of a broader AIDS response
• Service provision to government initiated
  projects (or other projects)
