  • If you need help, ask a librarian.
  • On the Information Superhighway, better known as
    the Internet
  • Use the search function of Internet Explorer or

  • The thesis of your essay gives your primary or
    main idea about your topic.
  • In this essay, it is about what it takes to
    choose a career.
  • In a narrative essay, it would be the overall
    idea about your story.
  • In a persuasive essay, your thesis is the major
opinion you are using to convince the reader to
    think like you do.
  • Your thesis should be brief, to-the-point, and
    completely clear.
  • You want to be sure the reader knows exactly what
    your thesis is.

Plagiarism
  • Plagiarism is a kind of cheating.
  • Plagiarism is copying somebody elses work.
  • Plagiarism is using an idea from a book, article,
website, etc. and not saying where you got it.
  • Plagiarism is dishonest and it can get you in
    very big trouble.
  • To avoid plagiarism, all you have to do is tell
where you got your information (see next slide.)

11
Cite your sources in APA format
  • On the last page of your essay, tell where you
    got your information.
  • You can use other peoples ideas all you want,
just dont forget to say where you got them
  • In a book or article, tell the name of the
author, name of the book, title of the article,
when and where it was published.
  • From the Internet, give the name address of the
    website.
  • In an interview, tell who you interviewed and
    when where.
  • Its that simple give other people the credit
they are due for the information.
