Objectives of the OSSRC

• To raise awareness on OSS for the community and
  promote international cooperation on OSS. Support
  Vietnam's OSS community in development activities
  and environment
• To develop resources and intellectual, establish
  and train a large group of high-skill
  professional staff (teachers and high-rangking
  developers), which is the core force leading in
  OSS use and development
• To support building the infrastructure for
  activities of investing, developing and using OSS
  in agencies, especially in State organizations
  and agencies
• To make recommendations and policies of OSS use
  and development. Prepare directions and solutions
  for OSS projects

• To develop some specific OSS-based IT products
  suitable to domestic conditions and demands. To
  introduce OSS for being effectively used in some
  economic-social fields
• To establish technical facilities for RD,
  testing and assessing the quality of OSS
  products. Set up security standards for Vietnam's
  OSS
• To ensure the interaction and openness of
  information systems
• To support the implementation of OSS use and
  development in Ministries, branches, localities
  as well as the OSS community
• To set up units to collect, store, update,
  localize and provide free of charge resources
  (materials, lectures, software...) on OSS
• To develop a network for providing OSS services
  in order to orient, support the OSS use and
  development in a proper, sustainable and
  long-term manner
