Importance of Play Play Materials

• Allows children to explore roles and tasks of
  life
• Increased playfulness increased coping skills
• Enhances parent-child interactions
• Decreases problematic behavior

How does this relate to us???

• Play is the primary occupation of children
• To facilitate play and play participation for
  children with disabilities, occupational
  therapists can adapt toys to meet individual
  needs.
• Many adaptations can be generalized to
  individuals across the lifespan.
