Frequently Asked QuestionsHigh School WASL 2006
  • When will the High School WASL be administered?
  • Reading March 13-14
  • Writing March 15-16
  • Math April 18-19
  • Science April 20-21
  • No Make-up!
  • Students need to be present for both days of a
test to receive a score. Students who are absent
on either day of a two-day test will not receive
    a score.

3
When will we get the scores back?
  • The scores will be delivered to the districts on
June 8, 2006 and those score reports should be
    delivered to you shortly thereafter.
  • The scores at that time may be used to plan for
    summer school, intervention programs, and/or
    re-takes in August, 2006.

4
When is the first retake and how many times can a
student retake the WASL?
  • The first retake for the High School WASL will
take place between August 7-10, 2006.
  • A student can retake all or part of the WASL up
    to five times.

5
Can 11th and 12th grade students re-take parts of
the WASL in Spring 2006?
  • Absolutely.
  • They will take the test on the same schedule as
the tenth-grade students in their building.
  • No fees will be charged for any 11th and 12th
graders wanting to take a WASL.

6
What should you do if you want your child to take
one or more WASL tests this spring?
  • You will need to pre-register your 9th, 11th, or
12th grade child to take one or more of the WASL.
Pre-registration assures that a test booklet and
test scheduling are arranged for your child.
  • No registration is required for 10th grade
    students.

  • State Student ID number (SSID)
  • Your childs SSID number is available through
your students high school counseling office.

Will WASL score be posted on high school
transcripts?
  • YES.
  • The highest WASL scores achieved in each subject
are posted on students transcripts. This began
with the transcripts of students in the Class of
    2006.
  • There is no indication on the transcript of how
many times a student took the WASL just the
highest score achieved and the date.

10
How can a student receive a scholar designation
based on WASL performance?
  • Students can receive scholars designations on
their transcripts for each subject when they
achieve a level 4 score (exceeds standard) on
the WASL the first time they take the test.
  • If students take the WASL for the first time in
either grade 9 or 10 and do not achieve level 4,
they have lost their opportunity to receive the
    scholars designation on their transcripts.

in WASL?
