Title: Risk Assessment for Tutors

1
  • Risk Assessment for Tutors

2
Health and Safety Risk Assessment
3
Step 1
  • Step 1 identify the hazards
  • Consideration should be given to what could
reasonably be expected to cause harm
  • Consider all tasks that may influence the risks
    associated with the task
  • Both routine and non-routine activities should be
    considered.

4
  • Step 2 identify who might be harmed and how
  • This includes learners, employees, service users
and clients, members of the public, contractors,
    visitors, trainees, casual employees, volunteer
workers and the employees of others employers who
    share your workspace.

5
Step 3
  • Step 3 identify the precautionary measures
already in place to control the risk and any
other remedial action that may be required
  • Each hazard identified must be considered in
terms of it likelihood to cause harm
  • The risk from each hazard identified must be
    removed or reduced
  • Even after all precautions have been taken, some
    risk usually remains
  • It may be appropriate to gain advice and
assistance on control measures from qualified and
    experienced person e.g. manufactures etc.

6
Step 3
  • To assist in risk reduction the hierarchy of
    control should be used
  • Eliminate the hazard
  • Substitute with a less risky option
  • Restrict access to the hazard e.g. guarding
  • Organise the tasks and operations to reduce
    exposure to the hazard
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment.

Step 4 record the significant findings
  • Record the findings and evidence of your
    implementation of controls

Ensue

Step 5
  • Step 5 review the risk assessment on a regular
basis or in the event of any significant changes
in the matters to which it relates

Record the evidence of implementation
  • Always indicate on register the main control
measures implemented to minimise risk of
    hazardous situations
  • Note on your lesson plan specific controls
    implemented for that session activities
  • Follow procedures
  • Think safety reinforce and check understanding
