  • You will now be able to view all the power point
    lecture notes on line.
  • If you have the school web site book marked, a
link to the chemistry page is at the bottom of
    the main page.
  • Here is the URL http//www.ohiovalley.k12.oh.us/n
ahs/ChemOnLine.htm from this link you will be
able to access other online resources to help you
    in this class.

Data Tables/Charts/Graphs
Data in all graphs must be clearly labeled This
graph has some major parts missing. Can you
tell what they are?
No units, no labels, no title, no scale on the X
axis. Did you find these?

Homework and Labs
  • Instead of turning in homework or other work,
youll be keeping it all in a chemistry notebook
  • Ill check the notebook sometime after the due
    date for an assignment.
  • This will be done while you are doing something
else, perhaps during a lab or group work.

Purpose
  • The purpose is also called the objective.
  • It is what you are trying to investigate in the
    experiment.
  • This is what you need to come back to when you
write your conclusion by answering the question,
Did I find the answer(s) to what I was trying to
    find?

10
Hypothesis
  • After reading the purpose, you need to make a
statement of what you think you will find out in
    this investigation.
  • Your hypothesis may be right or wrong.
  • In your conclusion, you will need to use this
statement along with the purpose statement.
  • Did the investigation give you information
regarding your purpose? Did the investigation
give you the results you thought it would?

11
Results
  • This can be
  • It can be observations
  • It can be raw data
  • You will have a lab data sheet this is what
will be used in writing this section
  • You will make any tables or lists neatly with a
    straightedge
  • The lab data sheet can be attached at the end
if you desire, some college Profs require it.

12
Conclusion
  • This is where you will first analyze your data or
observations. Sometimes this will be converting
the data into graphic form so you can make
    statements about it.
  • Your Conclusion should go back to your purpose
and hypothesis and you should say something about
    those.

13
Discussion
  • This is where you will talk about the questions
at the end of the lab.
  • Dont just answer the questions, put them in
    discussion form.
  • These are to be guides to your thinking.
  • In college you will have to come up with your own
ideas for discussion, so this is good practice in
thinking about the types of questions you will be
    expected to discuss.
