Understanding vs Memorizing

• As we study we create a mental image (mental-map)
  of concepts in terms of similarities and
  dissimilarities. In our mind concepts will be
  associated with each other in a certain way and
  overall picture will look like unfolding tree
  branches.
• Associating concepts appropriately will help us
  tremendously to understand and solve all kinds of
  problems.

• Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) is a statistical
  technique to measure and display visually the
  similarity of elements of a set of objects.
• As an example Judgment of Children and Adults in
  terms of the similarity of all pairs of 15 parts
  of the human body is presented below. That
  reflects the way language develops as children
  grow to adulthood.
