5- Some Changes
- UK Perspective
- Our Research Council and Government Ministry
(DEFRA) have established a UK National Tidal
Sea Level Facility (POL, BODC, other
DEFRA-related work e.g. by Nottingham University) - All UK data (1990 on so far) are now freely
available on the web (whether a GLOSS tide gauge
or any other). Older historical data will be
added in due course - Relevant data will be copied to ESEAS, GLOSS etc.
completely freely - http//www.pol.ac.uk/ntslf/

9- REMINDER ABOUT HIGHER FREQUENCY DATA
- Fast High-Frequency Data
- UHSLC IS THE GLOSS FAST DATA CENTRE see Mark
Merrifield at this conference - Delayed Mode High-Frequency Data
- Send HF Delayed Mode data (as required by GLOSS
Implementation Plan) to either UHSLC or PSMSL - In practice, BODC will perform this GLOSS
Archiving Centre for PSMSL. Send data to Lesley
Rickards. - UHSLC and BODC will undertake similar roles for
sea level data for CLIVAR

11- REMINDER ABOUT MSL DATA TO PSMSL
- Mean Sea Level Data
- Please continue to send MSL data to the PSMSL -
see Svetlana Jevrejeva at this conference - GLOSS Status measured by data receipts at PSMSL
improved slightly during 2003 but we still need
to give reminders to a number of authorities.

15 PLEASE TAKE A GOOD LOOK WHY IS YOUR COUNTRY NOT
RED? I) Data not delivered to the PSMSL because
we got out of the habit of sending and receiving
MSL data ? See Svetlana Jevrejeva at this
conference II) Data are not released for some
reason. MSL data have little commercial or
national security value ? Long list of IOC
resolutions on this subject. III) No (or
inadequate) gauges exist. IV) Some other
blockage
16- Examples
- South Africa
- II) New Zealand
- III) Certain African States, Yemen, Russian
Arctic, Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil - IV) CPACC countries
- III and IV are related to why we are having this
technical workshop.
