Introduction

• SCI's RMerge provides users with the ability to
  optimize their merge acceptance rate by using
  multiple merge profiles.

SCIs RMerge was designed to increase the power
and flexibility of IBMs High Speed Reject Repair
(HSRR) Merge.

• By utilizing HSRR with SCIs RMerge enhancement,
  users will be able to dramatically reduce the
  number of items that are sent to their reject
  repair process while experiencing only a minimal
  effect on balancing operations.

RMerge in a Non-HSRR Institution
What savings will RMerge provide for an
institution that is currently not using HSRR?
The added cost of handling 5,000 items in
balancing (6 items/minute, 6 hours/day/ employee)
is less than 60,000 per year.
After the reject repair process is complete, a
HSRR merge is run to match the 1 (100,000 items)
back into the original 10,000,000.
The 100,000 items are sent to the reject repair
process.
The cost savings from not handling 50,000 items
daily in reject repair (at 2 cents per item) is
260,000 per year.
After subtracting the added balancing expense
from the savings found in reject repair, the net
savings from implementing HSRR with RMerge is
200,000 per year!
