  • Telling time on an analog clock is a vital part
    of surviving in the real world. Learning to
    properly tell time is a skill needed in everyday
    life. It is a part of the curriculum in
    elementary school because this is where the most
    basic concepts are taught.

Basics of telling time
  • There are 24 hours in a day.
  • The day is split into AM and PM.
  • There are 60 minutes on the face of a clock.
  • Each number represents an additional 5 minutes
    after the hour (i.e. 15 minutes, 210 minutes).

AM
  • AM stands for Ante Meridiem which is Latin for
    before midday
  • AM is from Midnight (12am) until Noon (12pm)
  • Usually associated with the morning hours.

PM
  • PM stands for Post Meridiem which is Latin for
    after midday.
  • PM is from Noon (12pm) until Midnight (12am).
  • Usually associated with the afternoon and night.
