33
Overview of Organization
34
OEC-CIO Advisory Board
  • Consists of
  • One representative from each major sponsor
  • Chairs of OEC of current year, past year, and
    following year
  • ESSCO president
  • Chair of the advisory board
  • Deans of hosting Universities
  • Four face-to face meetings every year
  • Most members of board are previous competitors

35
Where it begins
  • Bids are made for OEC-CIO two years in advance at
    OEC-CIO
  • So, OEC 2003 was bid for at OEC 2001
  • Regular meetings with the provincial advisory
    board
  • Submissions of progress reports

36
Organization
  • Each OEC-CIO organizing committee has full
    control of their executive structure
  • As many people that want to be involved are
    welcome!
  • Huge undertaking costs approximately 120,000
    to run the event
  • Where does the money come from?

37
Sponsorship
  • Critical executive position on all organizational
    committees for OEC-CIO
  • Usually more than one
  • Money is donated by sponsors of categories
    (referred to as sustaining sponsors)
  • Registration fees
  • Approaching companies!

38
7th Category Senior Design
  • New category introduced at national level
  • All other regions will have it
  • There is no OEC senior team design, so we will
    not have representatives
  • Mostly likely will happen next year
  • What do we do about it?
