  • Version -03 was presented at Dublin addressing
    WG LC comments
  • Major comments
  • Default MTU less than 1500 deemed not acceptable
    from an IETF standpoint

Background
  • Problem was that Wimax NWG specs specified 1400
    bytes as their MTU size
  • Co-authors and Area Director (Jari A.) worked
    together to provide guideline texts for Wimax NWG
    to move to 1500 bytes as default MTU in the next
    revision of their specification

Notable changes in version -04
  • Section 4.3 (Maximum Transmission Unit) now
    states that the default IPCS MTU size is 1500
    bytes
  • Section 4.3 also clarifies
  • IPCS node IPV4 stack should have capability to
    adjust MTU through DHCP interface MTU option
  • In absence of DHCP MTU configuration, the node
    has two choices
  • Use default MTU (1500 bytes)
  • Determine MTU using mechanism described in
    802.16 Rev2

Notable changes in version -04
  • Appendix C discusses Wimax default MTU (1400)
    for IPCS and it strongly recommends that Wimax
    future specification follow section 4.3 of this
    draft for MTU values

    review comments
