• Maximise Renewable Energy capacity by requiring
  at least 10 of the energy to be used in sizeable
  new development to come from renewable energy
  sources

The Calderdale principle applied to Regional
Spatial Strategy

• amend Policy ENV5 B iii) in the RSS to reflect
  this as follows
• Requiring at least 10 of the energy to be used
  in sizable new development to come from on site
  RE sources up to 2010. This will rise to 15 up
  to 2015 and 20 up to 2021.

Sizeable?

• A 'minimum' and a 'recommended' standard that can
  be applied in LDF's
• minimum standard would reflect the Merton ruling
  i.e. a threshold of 10 dwellings or 1000m2 for
  non domestic developments.
• The recommended standard a 'threshold' of 1
  dwelling and 500m2 for non domestic developments

Problems with current UDPs too residential!

• Would detrimentally impact upon the residential
  amenity of neighbouring properties on Spruce
  Drive and Elder Grove in immediate close
  proximity, particularly by virtue of noise
  pollution and visual appearance.
