1How to create a department change request report
from the RMS ticketing systemby Jeff Berry Jr.
2First, under Actions in the RMS RFC- Request
for Change (Search) field, go to View My
Searches, then pick a report- here I pick one of
my weekly report that I created and maintain
3At the bottom in the Search Criteria screen it
populates the search that is stored within RMS
under the title that I picked in the previous
screen. The full search is 'Change Status' !
"Closed" AND 'Appl Owner' LIKE "ANS" AND (
'Scheduled Start Date' gt "06/09/06" AND
'Scheduled Start Date' lt "07/10/06" ) AND NOT
( 'Application' "DTOSS" OR 'Application' LIKE
"AK" OR 'Application' "CONNECTVU-APX" OR
'Application' "LNP-SMS" OR 'Application'
"NRN-SMS" OR 'Application' "GEOLINK" OR
'Application' "MFGPRO" OR 'Application'
"CARS" )
4Here are the resulting records (partial view at
the top- split screen format)
5Then I pick a stored report format (that I
created and stored) and display it
6Here I picked the Hugo 1 month ANS change
report format The fields/column headers display
at the bottom of the screen
7Here I store the data to a file I want it comma
delimited so Excel will handle it correctly (see
next slide)
8I choose comma separated values for the filetype
9When I open the csv file to get it ready for
overlaying the corresponding .xls file, I make
the columns readable (c, d and e) by clicking on
the column, performing format-gtcolumn-gtautofit

11After fixing the unreadable date fields from the
previous slide, I highlight the entire
spreadsheet and do a Format-gtCells-gtAlignment-gtWra
p Text before copying and overlaying the
corresponding .xls file
12This is the .csv file after formatting. Its
still pretty rough, though- wouldnt want to
present this to anyone!
13At this point I go and open up the .xls file and
clear its data (see next slide) to get ready to
overlay it with the .csv file data

16Now that I have cleared the .xls file I go back
to the .csv file and copy all the cells..
17..and paste them into the .xls document. It will
keep the original .xls formatting and the
data will flow in smoothly
18After copying over the .csv data and pasting it
to the .xls file, I can put in auto filtering so
the managers can look at any change for any
application that they want.
19And here is the finished product..
