The shared vision for advanced distributed
learning is to ensure access to high-quality
education and training materials that can be
tailored to individual learner needs and made
available whenever and wherever they are
required. Our collective aim is to advance the
state of the art technologies to dramatically
improve the quality and cost-effective delivery
of training and education.

- Reduce time and cost of developing and
distributing education and training, while
increasing military readiness for a wide range of

on ADL
Overview of the NTG IT ED
- 28 years of cooperation on Education and
Training Developments - Reorganized 2 years ago to increase focus on
common needs - Today - representatives from 30 NATO / PfP
countries - Leverage substantial National learning
resources - Most reps have National responsibility for Ed
/ Training Policy - Bi-annual meetings divided into four Sub
Groups - Leadership Training
- Cross Cultural Training
- Systems Approach to Training
- Advanced Distributed Learning
- Formed Ad Hoc Group to conduct in-depth Needs
Assessment - Ready to assume greater role in drafting NATO
training policy,

Elements of a Comprehensive NATO Training Policy
on ADL
Proposed Program of Work for the NTG WG IT ED
- In coordination with the JSSG, the NTG WG IT ED
will - Review and clarify draft NATO Training Policy
- Synchronize with Systems Approach to Training
- Expand Cross Cultural and Staff Officer Training
project(s) - Analyze common NATO / PfP ADL needs and
priorities - Determine how technology pedagogy can meet
needs -
- Draft ADL policies, procedures, and
Implementation Plan(s) -
- Many NATO military organizations, universities,
and businesses will participate. - NTG will lead the development and coordination of
ADL policy, procedures, and guidelines. - NTG WG IT ED will draft policies and coordinate
with other NATO and PfP forums. - NTG WG IT ED will identify and work with key
POC's in each NATO and PfP countries to conduct
an in depth analysis of common needs, priorities,
and existing capabilities. - NTG WG IT ED shall determine how ADL technology
and pedagogy could be used to best meet these
challenges and recommend a set of priorities to
the NTG through the JSSG. - NTG WG IT ED, JSSG, and NTGSE will work
together to brief senior NATO. - NTG WG IT ED will work with the ADL Co-Labs to
coordinate the development of the common
specification, provide guidelines and tutorials,
and assist organizations with development,
refinement, and assessment of prototype tools and
learning content. - MS organizations will coordinate use of
distributed simulation for coalition training.
