  • Track record in employer engagement.
  • Supported several successful YA and Diploma bids.

Young Apprenticeships
  • Young Apprenticeships are a Vocational Course for
    14 to 16 year olds.
  • In 5th Year of existence Cohort 5.
  • Funded by the LSC but approved by Sector Skills
    Councils.
  • They follow BTEC 1st Diploma to level 2.
  • 50 days of work placement in their own time.

Young Apprenticeships
  • YAs relevant to Trusts Health and Social Care,
    Science, Engineering and Construction.
  • Work placement has to be relevant to the course.
  • Clusters of 30 to 40 students from several
    schools based at an FE College, 1 day per week.
  • Interview process.
  • 5 A-C capability, good behaviour and attendance.

  • Engineering YAs Bedford, Norwich, Great
    Yarmouth, St Albans, Bury St Edmunds,
    Peterborough, Lowestoft, Linton - Cambridgeshire.
  • Construction Colchester, BSE,
  • Health and Social Care Ipswich, BSE, Norwich.
  • No charge to the employer.

Young Apprentices
  • Engineering supported a YA at BSE by writing a
    Work Placement Guide.
  • Construction currently supporting BSE YA
    placement obtained at Colchester General FM team.
    Enquiries with Addenbrookes and WSH.
  • Health and Social Care BSE found placements in
    Adult Social Care, Childrens Services and
    Health. Working with a Mental Health Partnership
    Trust to provide placements for 8 students across
    6 teams.

Health Ambassadors into Schools.
  • Work with schools to identify ambassador
    participation tasters Year 9, curriculum
    support, careers IAG, work placement induction,
    conferences.
  • Discuss development of the curriculum with
    respect to the H and SC courses, SHD Diploma,
    Young Apprenticeships.
  • Recruit and train both clinical and non-clinical
    Health Ambassadors.
