PARIS DECLARATION
  • Paris Declaration 2nd March 2005
  • Ministers of developed and developing countries,
    responsible for promoting development and heads
    of multilateral and bilateral development
    institutions
  • Declared and resolved to take far-reaching and
    monitorable actions to reform the ways they
    deliver and manage aid as they look ahead to the
    review of the Millennium Declaration and the MDGs
    later that year

Why is Gender Equality relevant to Aid
Effectiveness?
  • Gender equality and womens empowerment are at
    the centre of our development challenges.
    Ensuring GE and WE would lead to a rapid rate of
    development
  • Gender Equality in aid effectiveness is necessary
    for women to have equal economic, social, and
    political opportunities.
  • Aid disbursement must secure opportunities for
    women to contribute to public policy process and
    empower them through increased access to economic
    activities, education and legal rights

    opportunities and assets and provide the enabling
    environment to rectify imbalances and promote the
