Locke. Sixteen students at Saint Martin's
College have spent a semester learning about the
heavyweight Asian economies of China and Japan.
Starting June 4, they will take a more up-close
and personal approach to the world's No. 2
economy in Japan and the world's foremost up-and-
comer, China. The students will travel to
Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Japan. "We have
a combination of graduate and undergraduate
students," said Riley Moore, assistant professor
of economics and finance at Saint Martin's.
"Leading up to the trip, we have had a series of
lectures on the countries' culture and business
practices. The best way to learn is to share
experiences, and this trip will foster that."
China is playing an increasing role in the world
economy and is a major trading partner with the
state of Washington.
