Community Issues

FA-18 Cat I Manning
  • FY08/09 NATRACOM production challenges led to
aviator delivery delays for VFA, VAW and VRC
    communities
  • VFA community response
  • Directed short-term extension of select JOs to
    support deployments
  • Transitioned 14 pilots from VAQ, VQ, VAW and VS
    communities
  • Will arrive in FA-18 squadrons late FY10 through
    FY12
  • Utilized super JOs to fill Cat I seats in 9
    squadrons, to date
  • Increased VFA manning levels at Strike VT
squadrons to bring production to required levels
  • Late FY09 Strike VT production exceeded
    expectation
  • FA-18 FRS production is expected to meet FY10
Fleet demand (with extension and SJO strategies
    in place)

Efforts to Mitigate the VFA Cat I Shortfall are
Working
