• GALCIANA IS A LITTLE VILLAGE IN THE WESTERN AREA
  OF PRATO

THE OLD CHURCHIN GALCIANASAN PETER CHURCH

• IN GALCIANA WE FIND SAN PETER CHURCH.
• It was built in XII century and it was
  restructured during XIX and XX century. Inside
  the Church there are amazing affreschi made in
  1300 by Antonio Vite.

THE NEW CHURCH
Between 1956 and 1965 near the old Church was
built the new Church. It was realized by Ivo
Lambertini. In this Church you can admire many
stained glass windows by Tito Amodei.

THE TOWN OF PRATO

• Prato lies in the middle of northern area of
  Tuscany along Bisenzio river.Its famous, since
  the Middle ages, for its productions of wool
  fabrics.

THE CENTRE

• THE CENTRE IS WITHIN THE WALLS AND IT IS THE MOST
  ANCIENT PART OF THE TOWN.

S.S. MARIA DELLE CARCERI
The building of the Marian sanctuary was decided
as a consequence of the prodigious events that
happened at the end of the XV century around a
picture of "Madonna with Child".

CASSERO WALLS
The first citizen settlement formed by Borgo al
Cornio and by Borgo al Prato, came together to
create the city of Prato, it was necessary to
build a bondary wall to defend this new village
became so important for wool's trade. In origin
"Corridore del Cassero" was really wanted by the
florentinees after Prato's Town Hall subjection
to connect the little fortress built from then
at the black of walls with the castle's
oriental door.
