    Newsweek, US News and World Report.
  • After choosing 1 of the three topics, speakers
    will have 30 minutes to research and prepare
    his/her speech
  • Movement Allowed
  • Manuscript One 3X5 notecard

Impromptu Speaking
  • Maximum Time 7 minutes
  • Students choose 1 of three topics
  • Topics may be a person, thing, or quote
  • Speaker may use think time
  • Immediately following, student must speak
  • Think time and speaking time collectively must
    not exceed 7 minutes
  • Movement Allowed
  • Script One 3X5 index card

Registration
  • Limit 4 students per category
  • Coach must provide 1 QUALIFIED judge for every 5
    students (or fraction thereof)
  • Enter Duo teams in the same field provide first
    and last name
  • Students may not be double entered

  • Registration Deadline Midnight Monday before
    tournament
  • Drop Deadline Noon Wednesday before tournament

Tournaments
  • Arrive at the tournament by 330
  • Call 270-4967 if there is a problem
  • Check in and receive critique sheets and student
    codes
  • Please notify of any last-minute drops and pay
    fines.
  • Fines 10 per student, 60 per judge

  • Extemp Speakers must immediately go to the
    Library for the draw
  • Send students to their rooms
  • Send judges to tab room to receive master ballots

Tournament of Champions
  • The 1st-3rd place students in every category will
    qualify for TOC in March
  • If a student wins 1st-3rd and is already
    qualified for TOC, then the next student not yet
    qualified will be considered.
