What is a blog?
  • A blog is a website made by an individual or
group of individuals. A blog has words and
    sometimes pictures, also.
  • The word is short for website log blog

3
Kinds of Blogs
  • Some people use their blog like a diary or
journal to talk about travel or daily life. That
is an example of a personal blog.
  • Some blogs can be professional
  • a doctors blog about medicine
  • a student blog about research
  • the librarys blog

4
Our Blog
  • As students, you will have a professional blog to
talk about your book club books.
  • Not a social club or chat session
  • We represent Old Town Elementary

5
Internet Safety
  • Our blog will be on the internet for anyone to
    see!
  • Remember- dont use last names first names
    only!
  • Always have parent permission- turn in your form
    to Mrs. Thrift
  • Dont ever post your address or phone number
  • All blog posts will come to Mrs. Thrift first for
    approval

From bad to much better!
  • This is a good book. I liked it.
  • I liked this book because the author draws good
word pictures, like the silence seemed like a
    hundred crushing elephants.
  • I think this book is stupid.
  • I think that the main character makes bad
decisions. For example, he decides to ignore his
friends warnings and he jumps off the cliff.

9
Your turn!
  • Start reading the Bluebonnet books
  • Go to the library website, either at school or at
    home
  • Click on the Bluebonnet program page, and follow
    the link for the blog.
  • Remember, write a quality blog post in order for
    Mrs. Thrift to approve it!
