?Where speech recognition come or originate
from???
Writing systems are ancient, going back as far
as the Sumerians of 6,000 years ago. The
phonograph, which allowed the analog recording
and playback of speech, dates to 1877. Speech
recognition had to await the development of
computer, however, due to multifarious problems
with the recognition of speech. In 1971 they
sponsored a research initiative to develop a
speech recognizer that could handle at least
1,000 words and understand connected speech,
i.e., speech without clear pauses between each
word. The recognizer could assume a
low-background-noise environment, and it did not
need to work in real time In 2001, Microsoft
released a speech recognition system that worked
with Office XP.

? How do you use speech recognition?? ?
The first thing you do is make your profile and
adjust your microphone. The next thing you
would have to do is tab then click Train Profile,
and then follow the instructions in the Voice
Training Wizard to train the system to recognize
your voice. As you train the speech recognition
system to recognize your voice make sure the
microphone is an inch from your face. ( if not it
will be hard for the speech system to understand
your words.) When you begin train its best to
read 2 or more stories so the system will begin
to recognize you voice tone.

?Initial training and Continuous speaking?
Continuous speaking is speaking without
momentarily pausing between each word or phase.
Discrete speaking requires the user to pause
momentarily between each word. It is also better
for disabled people. The difference between
Continuous speech and Discrete speech is that one
never pauses and the other pauses between each
word. Initial training is when you begin reading
the stories.
6
? how dependable is speech recognition? ?
Speech recognition is very dependable. Why
exactly is it dependable? All you have to do is
just speak into the headset and make sure that
the words that you say are highlighted. when a
disabled person gets on the computer they
sometimes cant use their hands so this is
something that they have a chance to do while
spending time on the computer.
Make sure that when you speak its in a soft,
calm and understandable tone of voice.

?The Purpose and Advantages of using Speech
recognition?
It can help us improve our speech and our
grammar. It can also teach us how to speak more
clearly to others. The way you talk and carry
yourself can also determine the what type of job
you get. Most of the time managers like it when
their employees have clear and understandable
speech. speech recognition can help many people
learn how to speak better if they just take the
time to do it.
