Background
  • The Cambridge International Summer School started
    85 years ago
  • Professor Donna Love initiated the Washburn
    Cambridge Program 14 years ago, as the
    accompanying faculty
  • In 2007 Dr. Bassima Schbley will join Professor
    Love as the second accompanying faculty

The July 2007 Program
  • Students and faculty will leave from Kansas City,
    Missouri as a group on Sunday, July 8 and will
    arrive in London on Monday, July 9.
  • (British time is 6 hours later than Central Time)

En Route
  • A chartered coach will drive the group 50 miles
    to Cambridge
  • All students will formally enroll and receive
    class instructions on Monday, July 9
  • All students will be assigned to their rooms at
    Selwyn College
  • The first dinner and orientation lecture will be
    held Monday evening

classes
  • Classes begin on Tuesday morning after an 8
    Oclock breakfast
  • A B classes and Plenary lectures are held
    everyday, five days per week
  • If a student enrolled for a third class, it will
    be held each afternoon (weekdays)

Accommodations
  • Accommodation includes a single room at Selwyn
    College (one of thirty-one Cambridge Colleges)
  • Two large meals (seven days per week)
  • All linens and towels are furnished as well as
    daily housekeeping service
  • Arrangements may be made for internet connection
    in your room for an extra fee

Scholarships and Financial Aid
  • Scholarships and Financial Aid are available with
    the application deadline (March 1, 2007)
  • Applications may be picked up from Professors
    Love, or Schbley
  • Washburn requires a 50 fee for emergency
    evacuation (insurance)

Passports
  • Students are responsible for obtaining passports
    (takes about 6 weeks). Applications are available
    at the Topeka Downtown Post office

Terms
  • Term I Most students enroll in the four-week
    (Term I) in order to receive full credit
  • In addition, Cambridge offers several one
    subject programs lasting three-weeks yielding
    less credit hours (community members and alumina
    are welcome to participate)

Educational Offerings for 2007
  • All students are required to select two courses
    (six credit hours) and possibly may enroll in a
    third class for additional three-credit hours
  • A complete catalog with a complete description
    with each one of the thirty courses will be
    available in December 2006

  • Plenary lectures will be offered mornings and
    evenings
  • There will be opportunities to attend concerts
    and social events
  • There will be opportunities to travel on your own
    expense on weekends in Europe

Costs
  • Approximate cost including plane fare, tuition,
    single-room, two meals per day, transportation to
    and from airport is about 5,300.00 (price
    subject to change)
  • Students are eligible for financial aid
  • Students may qualify for scholarships

  • 800 am Breakfast at the College
  • 900 am Class A
  • 1030 am Plenary Lecture
  • 1145 am Class B
  • 100 pm Lunch
  • 200 pm Class C (if elected) or free time
  • 630 pm Dinner at the College

  • Students may purchase a 4 or 8 day Flex-Pass
  • This allows students to travel anywhere in the
    United Kingdom
  • This must be purchased in the United States
