3LEED 2009 What is it?
- LEED 2009 or LEED v3.0 is a harmonization and
revision of the following LEED rating systems - LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC)
- LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI)
- LEED for Existing Buildings Operations and
Maintenance (LEED-EB) - LEED for Core and Shell (LEED-CS)
- LEED for Schools (LEED-Schools)
- LEED for Neighborhood Development, LEED for
Homes, and other forthcoming rating systems will
be added at a later date.
4LEED 2009 Credit Changes
- In general, the credit are largely the same, but
now reflect updated standards and are a bit more
stringent - Credits using ASHRAE standards reference 2007
editions instead of current 2004 editions. - 20 water use reduction now a prerequisite
instead of voluntary point. - Credits across systems have been harmonized and
clarified - Common credits in LEED-NC, LEED-CI, LEED-CS, and

been folded into requirements.

14LEED Credentialing Legacy APs
"What do legacy LEED APs have to do? Nothing..."
Beth Holst, VP of Credentialing at
GBCI during Greenbuild 2008
Yeah, BUT
- Must agree to disciplinary policy and code of
ethics - Must agree (and pay for!) continuing education
requirements - If you decide to do this, you will be awarded
Tier II - LEED AP status in the category of the
test youve taken. - If you decide NOT to do this, you will be listed
as an inactive LEED AP.
15LEED Credentialing Code of Ethics/Disciplinary
Policy
Sets means by which GBCI can suspend or revoke
LEED AP status. Generally contains typical
boilerplate (be truthful, be in compliance GBCI
rules and regulations, dont misrepresent status,
etc.) with a few interesting clauses
- Numerous restrictions for felons, even when not
related to design and construction - Can report violations of others to the GBCI, even
anonymously - No current rules related to not being green
enough
16LEED Credentialing Maintenance
- Tier I Green Associate
- 15 hours 3 LEED specific
- Tier II LEED AP
- 30 hours 6 LEED specific
- Tier III LEED AP Fellow
- ??? Presumably same as AP
Above lists hours required for every TWO years,
as that is the schedule that future LEED system
revisions will follow. 50 maintenance fee
required for every TWO years. This fee is waived
for the first two years for current APs who
decided to enroll between July 1st, 2009 and July
1st 2011. AIA, PE, and other continuing education
programs will overlap, though details on what is
and is not eligible have not been defined.
