  • Summary

3
Brief Item Description
  • The ALE-47 program funded a two phase System
    Reliability and Maintainability Analysis
  • Phase I identified 3 Shop Replaceable Units (SRU)
as with the highest depot failure rates
  • Identified areas in Circuit Card Assembly (CCA)
that a circuit redesign would improve reliability
  • Phase II- Design, prototype and test new SRUs
  • Form, Fit and Function replacement
  • Programmer Power Supply CCA P/N 174264-0004
  • Control and Display Unit (CDU) Power Supply
    176058-0005
  • Sequencer Fire Source CCA P/N 177419-0005

4
Current Status of Item
  • Preliminary Design Review 18 Jun 07
  • Only the faulty circuitry is being redesigned
  • Diminishing Manufacturing Source (DMS) issues
    addressed
  • Surface mount components used whenever possible
    to aid automated production
  • Critical Design Review 24 Sep 07-Approved
  • Qualification and regression testing by USAF and
USN estimated to be complete in FY08
  • The government will own fully competative drawing
    package

5
Acquisition SustainmentStrategy
  • Competitive procurement of CCAs anticipated in
    FY09
  • CDU and programmer power supplies managed by
    ALE-47 Program Office (560th CBSS/GBLA)
  • Sequencer Fir Source managed by DLA
  • Strategy for upgrading existing ALE-47 LRU
    inventory is yet not determined
  • Initially CCAs will be changed through attrition
    during repair at Depot
  • Cut in the LRU production line is estimated in
    FY10

6
Requirements
  • Programmer PS FY09 FY10 FY11 FY12
    FY13
  • Rqmts 150 150
    300 300 300
  • CDU Pwr Supply FY09 FY10 FY11 FY12
    FY13
  • Rqmts 210 210
    300 300 300
  • Sequencer Fire Select FY09 FY10 FY11
    FY12 FY13
  • Rqmts (estimated) 100 100
    500 500 500
  • Assumes updated CCAs are cut included in new LRU
production and LRU production rates remain
    constant

7
Challenges/ Opportunities
  • Incorporating new design into production LRUs

8

9
Summary
  • When the three CCA re-design and testing is
completed, acquisition of the new CCAs (Full and
    Open)
  • Expecting significant reliability and
    sustainability of LRUs improvemments
