Service Learning Requirement
  • Each student must have 40 hours of documented
    service by the end of the third quarter of their
    senior year to graduate (cannot begin before
    September 2008).
  • Criteria for hours is as follows
  • Your service must benefit the community at large
  • Your must do your service with a non-profit
    organization
  • Your service cannot promote a religion
  • The supervisor of service cannot be a parent
  • If you are tutoring you must be supervised by a
    teacher or administrator

    in California. Please note that space in Ohlone
    classes is limited. Registering for an Ohlone

Health Class Options
  • Option 1
  • One semester 9th grade health course requirements
    include the following six units
  • mental and emotional health
  • Use and Misuse of Chemical Substances
  • Nutrition, Fitness and Personal Health
  • First Aid and Emergency Care
  • Diseases and Disorders
  • Family Health (reproduction, STD, AIDS)

Option 2
  • A parent can choose to have their student
    alternate health instruction during the unit 6,
    family health which includes human reproduction,
    sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS.

Option 3 Your student will not receive health
instruct- ion from FUSD, as per Education Code
51240 because this course conflicts with your
religious training and beliefs. (If only unit
6 Is in conflict, please refer to option 2).

Choice 4 In unique circumstances, your
student may have the option to take Health
instruction from an accredited institution such
as a community college, U.C. extension or on-line
classes. Students need prior written approval
from their school site administrator before
enrolling in an alternate Health course.
