level.

Network Queries
Description
Network members can send queries to an electronic
mailing list to tap the knowledge, experience and
perspectives of a global community. Replies from
UNDP fellow staff members, practitioners and
experts are compiled into one e-mail (a
Consolidated Reply), together with additional
research and resources.

usually 15 working days.

This service is provided at no cost to UNDP staff

Description

Global eDiscussions
Description
Selection of eDiscussion topics is one aspect of
a Practice setting agenda process (i.e. the
Practice determines the plan). eDiscussions can
inspire thoughtful and pertinent exchange
especially when ample time for members
reflection is allowed in advance and during
discussion.

    helps to create new knowledge.

eDiscussions are scheduled four months in advance
and run over a two-month period. An expert guest
moderator works 4-5 days throughout the
discussion period and collaborates closely with
the Facilitation team.

Cost of one or more expert guest moderators to
launch, run and summarize the discussion.

eDiscussions and E-Consultations
Description
eDiscussions focusing on priority areas that
arise within the context of Practice activities
can be launched on dedicated segments. Such
eDiscussions gather only a subset of the Practice
community, i.e. network members that register to
see or contribute to the thread.

month in advance. They involve half a day of
advisory support from the KM Team to train the
moderator and to set up the technical environment.
Cost
No costs are involved if the eDiscussion is
moderated by a BDP policy advisor.

Expert Referrals
Description
Country Offices send to a Regional Center a
request with a draft Terms of Reference for a
desired expert. The RC can assist in the
development of the final TOR. A list of expert
CVs recommended by the RC is provided with a
written summary profile of each referred
candidate.

WIDE Expert Roster
Description
The WIDE platform offers an on-line mechanism to
invite, receive, screen, and manage expert CVs
and recommendations. The platform allows UNDP
teams to develop their own experts roster and
offers the possibility to plug this into a global
UNDP experts database, creating a bigger pool of
'proven consultants'.

Development Turn-around
Creating a WIDE expert roster requires to learn
how to use the platform, which is a one day
training module.

The WIDE federation of expert rosters is
sponsored by UNDP SSCU and partners. As such the
roster is free of charge for UNDP staff and UN
agencies.

Practice Workspaces
Description
The purpose of the Practice Workspaces is to
enable Practice members to bring materials and
content to the attention of the entire community.
By sharing local practices, UNDP staff can
highlight globally their achievements and
successes.
