  • 1.8 Billion between 2005 2009 in England
  • 60-70 to VCS
  • Full Cost Recovery
  • All projects must be additional
  • Up to 5 years funding in selected programmes
  • Our mission is to bring to real improvements

Reaching Communities
  • Criteria
  • Must improve the quality of life for communities
    and those most in need (including those hard to
    reach)
  • Must ensure that communities are involved in
    helping to deliver projects

Who can apply?
  • Small community groups (communities of
    interest as well as geographic) or larger
    organisations clearly meeting identified needs
  • These groups will include
  • Registered charities
  • Charitable or not-for-profit companies
  • Social enterprises
  • Statutory bodies, including schools
  • Only make grants to legally constituted
    organisations

Reaching Communities
  • Funding to help improve local communities and the
    lives of people most in need.
  • Grants of between 10,001 and 500,000 max
    project cost 750,000 (Maximum 50,000 capital
    grant max capital project cost 200,000)
  • 5 years funding
  • Full cost recovery
  • Existing and new projects
  • The wider picture links to local plans,
    strategies initiatives
  • Project must meet at least 1 of the Big Lottery
    Funds four outcomes

  • Stage 1 outline proposal form, decision within
    10 -15 working days of receipt
  • Stage 2 application

    England
  • Funds very wide range of projects
  • Not-for-profit, school, parish/town council,
    health body but restrictions

  • Straightforward application form
  • Can fund activities, buildings, staff costs,
    start-up
  • Cant fund running costs, money already spent
  • Answer within 8 weeks if your form is complete

Awards for All -
From April 2006
  • Applicants can apply for a grant from 300 to
    10,000
  • Organisations cannot be in receipt of more than
    10,000 of Awards for All grants in any two year
    period, from the date of first award (either via
    single or multiple awards)
  • Projects still have to be completed within a 12
    month period, starting from the date of award

Awards for All - Case studies
  • London Chinese Culture and Art Community
    Organisation applied for funding to run weekly
    games and arts sessions for older members of the
    community. Awards for All will pay for equipment
    for lunch club (894), rent (2,1960), publicity
    (200), travel and transport (240), meals and
    refreshments (840)
  • Horn of Africa Women's Association is a voluntary
    group that used an Award to start up an advice
    support office for women and children facing
    domestic violence. Awards for All paid for rent
    (1,920), computer printer (1,000), volunteer
    expenses(1,440), telephone, postage stationery
    (600).

Breathing Places phase 2
  • Aims
  • To increase participation and access to local
    breathing places by encouraging people to become
    actively involved in them, and by supporting
    activities that are open accessible to
    everyone.
  • To make a lasting improvement to the local
    environment by supporting activities that develop
    existing breathing places or help create and
    sustain new ones.
  • Facts and Figures
  • Opens October 2006. Closing date 13 December 2006
  • Grants of between 300 and 10,000 to be spent
    within a year
  • Maximum project size 25k
  • Who can apply?
  • Any voluntary or community sector organisation,
    town or parish council or school

  • The Advice Plus programme aims to ensure that
    more people who need advice have access to good
    advice services wherever they live in England.
