• We lose heart in uncertainty
• Friends challenge one another
• Jesus joined their conversation
• Jesus became a companion
• We lose heart when we isolate ourselves

• They were baffled by their experience
• In 2417, hearts were heavy with sorrow.
• In vs. 21, they were disappointed.

• In vs. 22-24, they were bewildered.
• Jesus disappointed them because
• First he said he was a prophet.

• Secondly, Jesus was handed over by the chief
  priest to be crucified.
• And third, there was the report of the empty tomb
  but no evidence.

• Confusion is the result of too narrow a focus
• We need to be reminded of what we already know

• Jesus reminded them of what they knew
• The prophecies regarding the Messiahs suffering
• That they needed to believe what the prophets said

• The reason we cant find the heart to go on is
  because the fire has gone out
• The fire goes out because of unmet expectations

• Jesus reminded them of what he had done
• He walked with them
• He touched them with the Spirit

  the Holy Spirit and with fire.
