Why Use These Resources?
  • Instructors can find materials to use when
    constructing, enhancing, and revising their
    courses
  • Students can find study materials to supplement
their courses and to use for self-directed
    studies
  • Designers can find re-usable materials to insert
    into modules or course units
  • Instructors can upload their own courses and
course tools for use by colleagues

15
Will Faculty Use These Resources?
  • The big yawn
  • It takes time to locate and adapt resources
  • The importance of referatories and local

Conclusions?
  • Its really too early for summary statements
because we are in a growth and development
period--an exciting time of innovation and
    re-thinking in higher education.
  • At the least, these new resources provide an
alternative set of materials for inclusion in
courses, beyond local department files and
    beyond text-related publishers materials
  • At the most, a new paradigm for higher education
    is suggested
