Aerosol Can Filling Room
Manufacturers of insecticide bottle their product
in spray cans, which use combustible gas. Butane
is used as the propellant which has a vapor
density of 2.0, and will flow to the ground when
released. Butane is combustible when it is
present in concentrations of 1.6 to 8.4 by
volume. The empty spray cans are transported from
a staging area into the filling room via a
conveyor. The spray cans are filled with
insecticide and pressurized with butane. Model
S4000Cs wired to a Model DC110 controller is
used for this application. In addition, there is
a possibility of fire in the filling room. Model
FL3100 flame detectors, and Model FL802
readout/display units are installed in the
filling room to detect fires.
