Above is a schematic map of the laboratory,
showing the locations where the equipment used in
Experiments 2-9 is located. Experiment 1
(calibration) is done using thermistors connected
to computers associated with Experiments 3, 4,
and 6. (Teams are assigned to these stations by
number on the sheet on the lab door.) Pressure
calibration is done with the vacuum line used in
Expt. 8, and the barometer just to your left on
entering Door 1.

In Experiments 1, 3, 4, and 6, you will use an
electronic interface (LabWorks) to record
temperature (and in Expt. 4, pressure) directly
in a computer file, as a function of time. The
computers will usually be ready to go, but if
not, you can find the program easily and start
it. The program logs data into a file named
LWData.dat, so in case of a crash, all is not
lost. However, this file is overwritten each
time you start logging data. Thus at the
conclusion of each run (or each time you press
Stop), you will need to select Save and
supply a file name. If you let it just run, the
program will stop when it reaches 2000 points, so
be sure you have not exceeded this number in a
run, or the data beyond this point will be lost.
