Title: When Two Wills Meet

1
  • When Two Wills Meet

2
But had I not stood aside, there would have
been a collision.
3
...Jesus was perfect in every way, but one
characteristic of His life that you and I can set
out to imitate is faithful obedience to the
Father. Christian living, then, means searching
the scriptures for Gods will, and then humbly,
reverently, and lovingly obeying that
will. (from Becoming A Faithful
Christian published by Truth for Today)
4
And they said, There is no hope but we will
walk after our own devices, and we will every one
do the imagination of his evil heart
(Jeremiah 1812,
KJV) But they say, This is in vain! We will
follow our own plans, and will every one act
according to the stubborness of his evil heart
(Jeremiah 1812, ESV)
5
...But whoever would be great among you must
be your servant (Matt. 2026, ESV) even as
the Son of Man came not to be served but to
serve, and to give his life as a ransom for man
(Matt. 2028, ESV)
6
Important Question What can I do to be a
better servant to the Lord?
7
  • Abiding By Gods Will
  • Matthew 721 Not every one that saith unto
  • me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom
  • of heaven but he that doeth the will of my
  • Father which is in heaven.
  • Matthew 1250 For whosoever shall do the
  • will of my Father which is in heaven, the same
  • is my brother, and sister, and mother.
  • 1 John 217 - And the world passeth away,
  • and the lust thereof but he

8
Romans 323 For all have sinned...
  • sinned (Vines Dict.) harmartano
  • lit. to miss the mark

9
Why do we miss the mark? Because we place our
will before/above Gods will - whether that be
accidental or intentional.
10
Deuteronomy 49-10 9 Only take heed to thyself,
and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget
the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest
they depart from thy heart all the days of thy
life but teach them thy sons, and thy sons'
sons 10 Specially the day that thou stoodest
before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD
said unto me, Gather me the people together, and
I will make them hear my words, that they may
learn to fear me all the days that they shall
live upon the earth, and that they may teach
their children.
11
In regards to Gods will, we must learn
it abide by it teach it
12
Consider these four important words
Submit Humility
Priorities
Commitment

13
Submit Submit yourselves therefore to
God...
(James 47) Humility ...Wherefore
he saith, God resisteth the
proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

(James 46) Humble
yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he
shall lift you up.
(James
410) Priorities But seek ye first the
kingdom of God...
(Matthew
633) Commitment Dont we usually commit to
that which we
perceive to be a priority?
14
