- Establish a Mercury Pollution Prevention Program
by - Establishing realistic mercury pollution
prevention goals and an implementation plan that
is focused on source reduction. - Establishing a mercury pollution prevention
policy. - Advance the Have Mercy on the Earth (HMOTE)
program by further reducing the amount of waste
being disposed of in the environment through
waste reduction and recycling efforts including - Reduce regulated medical waste to 20 of the
overall waste stream. - Train 90 of staff on Waste Management.
- Increase recycling from the 19 baseline
established in FY08. - Convert from a disposable sharps container
program to a reusable sharps container program. - Expand the beverage container recycling program
house-wide. - Utilize the Practice GreenHealth web-based waste
tracking system to track and trend waste volumes
and costs. - Communicate Have Mercy on the Earth program
successes and recognize the efforts of employees
by - Convert the HMOTE web site to SharePoint and
build content. - Creating an annual newsletter to recognize
employee and/or departmental achievements in
support of the program. - Investigating opportunities for an employee
recognition, incentive, and rewards program.
