• OES is not-for-profit Industry Funding
  Organization (IFO) for Waste Electrical
  Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
• Plan for Phase 1 WEEE approved by Waste Diversion
  Ontario (WDO)
• Minister approved plan July 10, 2008
• Phase 1 commences April 1, 2009
• CSR contracted by OES as program manager
• Phase 2 WEEE plan development in progress
• Phase 2 plan due July 10, 2009

• computer peripherals keyboards, mice etc.

Phase 1 WEEE Sorting Packing Requirements

• Phase 1 WEEE separated into 3 groups
• group 1 desktop portable computers
• group 2 display devices (including monitors
  televisions)
• stack, palletize, over-wrap prepare for
  transport or place in gaylords
• group 3 printing devices peripherals
  (including mice, keyboards, drives cables)
• bulk bag /or gaylord boxes

• OES-approved collectors collection sites
  eligible to receive 165 per tonne financial
  incentive if they
• receive, sort prepare-for-transport according
  to OES requirements

WEEE Program Outline-Municipal

• Goalexpand existing levels types of municipal
  collection
• Municipal participation in WEEE program is
  voluntary
• to be eligible for OES collection incentive, many
  municipalities will have to change how they
  manage collected WEEE
• Each municipality that chooses to participate in
  WEEE program will enter into individual agreement
  with OES

• Participation voluntary
• Collectors must register with OES meet
  performance compliance requirements
• provide high-quality reliable services to WEEE
  generators
• ensure that safety health of all staff handling
  WEEE materials maintained of highest priority
• prohibit any other removal of Phase 1 WEEE, whole
  or parts, from site

• Ensure full current organizational compliance
  with all applicable municipal, provincial,
  federal regulations requirements

• Material sorting collected materials will be/are
  sorted into the three packing groups

• Site configuration protect WEEE from rain/snow
  adequate space to sort/pack/store
• Accessibility material handling equipment /or
  direct access for OES trucks
• Operating procedures site is safe for all users
• Training per collection site manual
