Equipment

• Heat guns
• pin point nozzle
• used to heat small focused areas on the splint
• very intense heat - 300-700 degrees
• Use soldering iron to punch holes in splinting
  material

Splint pans

• Different sizes and types but they all do about
  the same things
• frying pan - keep it on simmer
• If your splint bath is broken remember the HP
  hydrocollator
• splint bath is used to heat material initially
  and to make large adjustments to splint

• Razor blade knives

• Fiskars vs. heavy duty scissors
• Smooth long strokes
• try not to snip
• practice with scraps

Safety

• Dont mix electricity water
• Keep heat guns on, but with heat off when not in
  use
• dont place heat guns near paper, curtains,
  walls, pts, solvent, etc.
• dont cut splint on the pt
• wear gloves if pt has open wounds
