  • Once upon a Greek time, there lived a young
man named Herodutus. Herodutus was a tall dark
and handsome twenty year old man. At a young age
his father was taken away from him and died in
the Peloponision War. After that, his mother
remarried into a family of stuck-up aristocrats.

4
  • Herodotus worked outside and did all the cooking.
One day a messenger dressed in a shiny
gold cloak, brought a stone tablet with a golden
ribbon on it, signifying that it was from a very
rich aristocrat family. The stone tablet said,
You are cordially invited to a symposium given in
honor of our daughter Persephones twentieth
    birthday

5
  • Once Herodutuss stepfamily heard of this they
loaded him down with work for the night. He had
to wash the cloaks for his older brother Poseidon
and polish his older brother Ottos shoes which
were considerably large. When the work for the
night was over he decided to go to the symposium
    in his rags.

6
  • All of a sudden, a flash of blinding light
appeared, then he saw the spirit of his father
approaching him. He learned that his father had
become a god after his death. His father
inherited magical powers when he became a god. He
wanted this night to be the best night of his
sons life. In order to do this he used some
magic and made his son look like a rich
aristocrat. For the final touch his father gave
him a magical sword. The golden swords handle
was imbedded with rubies and outlined in
diamonds. The blade was made with gold plated
silver. The sheath was made with the exact
pattern as the golden swords handle.

7
Meanwhile at Persephones birthday symposium
Persephone was bored by snobbish aristocrats who
tried to impress her with democratic stuff.
Persephone always thought if unfair that all her
wealth couldnt go to the helots. When Herodotus
entered the symposium his eyes immediately fell
on Persephone. Persephone was wearing a gold
cloak filled with diamonds. Herodutus went over
to her and they started talking. Before the night
was over they had fallen in love. Meanwhile
Persephones mother was talking to Poseidon,
Persephones future husband, and Papendreu her
future father-in-law. They
were making plans for Poseidons and Persephones
wedding. Later that night Persephones mother
brought Poseidon over to meet Persephone.
Poseidon saw that she was sitting with another
man. With a horror-stricken face he realized that
it was his step-brother Herodotus. He immediately
confronted him in front of everyone. He told
Persephone that he was only a lowly slave.
8
  • When her mother heard this she told him leave and
never come back. He ran because he was so
embarrassed. While he was running his sword fell
, he was so hot with embarrassment that he left
it. That night Persephone cried herself to sleep
. In the morning a servant came in and showed her
the sword. She sent some Helots out to search for
the sheath matching in size and design.

9
  • When they reached Herodotuss house Papandreu
sent Herodotus to his room knowing that the
sword was his. But Herodotus was determined to
see Persephone one more time thinking that she
was there. Once again his fathers magic helped
him. When the helots entered, the sheath
magically appeared. They saw the sheath and put
the sword inside and it fit perfectly.

10
  • Persephone and Herodotus were once again united.
Persephone took Herodotus to meet her mother.
They talked for a while and then Heredotus made
his proposal. May I have your daughters hand
in mine in holy matrimony .

11
  • The parents refused. Persephone and Herodotus
pleaded until Persephones mother gave in and
made an exception for Herodotus to do three
impossible tasks to prove his love for Persephone.

12
  • The first task was to kill a moving canary in one
shot. Herodotus mastered the task and killed
three canaries instead of one. The second task
was for him to shoot an arrow with a string
attached to it across a snake pit and walk across
it. He shot the arrow and started to walk across
    the snake pit.

13
  • All of a sudden he slipped and held on with
his hands . Then he did a flip and continued to
walk across the string . Then he finally made it
across. Once he got off the string he saw in
front of him his third task, a humongous bull.
The bull charged at him but he dodged. He grabbed
the bull and got on his back and twisted the
    bulls horns

14
  • until it fell dead.
  • That was it but the parents of Persephone simply
would not accept him into their family. They
made excuse after excuse but finally they had to
    give in.

15
  • After all the preparations for the wedding
had been made the wedding took place.Persephone
was delighted. Persephone wore the same dress
that she had worn the day she met Herodotus.

16
  • For refreshments they had, cheese grape leaves,
figs, olives, very fine bread, seafood, and the
absolute best wine you could get.

17
  • The wedding took place in an open air courtyard.
Persephones hair was curled and then put in
braids at the top of her head. At the wedding
Herodotus and Persephone did a traditional
    wedding dance.

18
  • Finally it was time for the ceremony. After a
tussle Herodotus threw Persephone over his back
and carried her off and they lived happily ever
    after.
