Mission Statement
  • The mission of the Trauma Support Network is to
promote a healthy grieving process. We strive to
attain this goal by providing a stabilizing form
of assistance and resources to the victims family
immediately after a fatality has occurred. The
Trauma Support Network is also committed to the
practice of advocacy through a follow up care
unit and resource center, should the family
    desire to use the facility.

4
What the Trauma Support Network Does
  • The Trauma Support Network is an organization
that works with police and other law enforcement
agencies. When there is a traumatic death
(unexpected or untimely), a team of two
volunteers is dispatched to the scene. It is the
job of the two volunteers to stabilize the
emotional reactivity of family members and loved
ones of the deceased. This is not Therapy, this
    is Mental First Aid!

5
Continue
  • The Trauma Support Network also provides the
families with information on funeral homes, and
therapy. Volunteers can act as a liaison between
the family and the police if their has been a
crime committed and the family would like to know
what is happening. Volunteers will also conduct
a follow up interview to check on the family, see
if they have any more questions, or need anything
    else.

    continuing/renewing training at periodic times

and take care of themselves after intense
    situations

12
Long-Term Goals
  • After having established a positive working
environment with other agencies I would like to
open up a resource center for victims families.
This would include a paid staff with at least two
psychologist to work part time at the center for
a lower fee then they would receive in their
    regular private practices.

Needs of Target PopulationsStrengths of the
Marketing Plan
  • Police, Firefighters, EMTs Need volunteers from
organizations such as the trauma support network
to stabilize the victims family of the crime
scene. It is much easier to get information
about the situation if the family is calm. We
take care of the family so that they can do their
    jobs.

16
Continue
  • Funeral Homes, Psychologist, BioCleaning
Companies work well with Trauma Support Network
type organizations because we give the family
information and refer them to specific places
where we know they will be treated well.

17
Problems of the Marketing Plan
  • There can be the underlying mentality that
advocates just get in the way.
  • There are some studies that show early
intervention is not always good, in fact many
psychologist speak out against the idea.

18
Ways of Dealing with Problems
  • Volunteers must behave in a professional manner.
Volunteers should not Ever tell the police do
    their job.
  • The only way to overcome negative notions about
early intervention is to prove ourselves, new
ideas always take time to become excepted.
Volunteers must Never Cause Harm to the family.
It is above all the most important factor.

organizations that I am working with

24
Continue
  • At least one fundraiser a year that is
specialized to the Trauma Support Network only.
  • I plan to continue looking for Grants that would
best fit my organizations needs, however with
this plan still at least a year or two off I felt
that it was not necessary to have my fundraising
    plan set in stone.
