Title: The Wholeness Journey Part I

1
The Wholeness JourneyPart I
  • This presentation is not designed to give you the
formula that will get you whole, but to put you
on the journey to discover Gods custom made plan
    for your individual wholeness

2
God Alone
  • In our wholeness journey we must reject the
    tendency toward self-effort and self-striving
  • This involves rejecting thinking that we are
somehow responsible for healing ourselves or for
    initiating our own positive actions
  • We must embrace the fact that God alone can bring
about real fruit in our lives (i.e.,
    Christlikeness transformation)
  • Again, only God can work permanent and effective
    change into our lives

3
God Alone (cont.)
  • We stand in the way of Gods healing when we try
    to make ourselves whole by
  • Using Gods methods
  • Creating our own methods (even Biblically based
    ones)
  • Realize, the very purpose of creation is to bring
    glory to God
  • If God allowed us to succeed our way then we
    would get the glory
  • Only God can handle the glory without ruin

4
God Alone (cont.)
  • However, we are not to simply do nothing
  • We must turn our attention to God, actively
recognizing that He is our source for every good
    thing
  • NKJ James 117 Every good gift and every perfect
gift is from above, and comes down from the
Father of lights, with whom there is no variation
    or shadow of turning.

5
God Alone (cont.)
  • Perhaps you honestly do not desire to seek God
    with all of your heart
  • Nevertheless, the Bible is clear that only those
that persistently and relentlessly pursue Him
    receive the greatest blessings
  • NKJ Matthew 56 Blessed are those who hunger and
thirst for righteousness, For they shall be
    filled.

6
God Alone (cont.)
  • If you lack the desire to pursue God then admit
it to Him and ask for that desire to be put into
    your heart
  • Realize God can work with those that are not
willing - if they are willing to be made willing!
  • NKJ Ezekiel 3627 "I will put My Spirit within
you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you
will keep My judgments and do them.

7
God Alone (cont.)
  • However, praying for things simply because we are
supposed to - but we really do not want them
with all our heart or do not expect that God will
give them to us - will never get us anywhere
  • Ask God to begin revealing those things about
Himself that will uniquely inspire you to fall
    completely in love with Him
  • The Father will give these things to you when
you want them with all your heart

8
God Alone (cont.)
  • NKJ Jeremiah 2913 And you will seek Me and find
Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
  • Ask God to put into your heart the love He has
    for His son Jesus Christ
  • NKJ John 1726 "And I have declared to them Your
name, and will declare it, that the love with
which You loved Me may be in them, and I in
    them."
  • This is the same love He has for you

9
God Alone (cont.)
  • However, if you are not willing to obey the
requirements that go along with the help you
seek, then do not expect that God will answer
    your prayer
  • For example, you seek deliverance from gossip
however, you are not willing to forgive others
    that have wronged you
  • God does not give pearls to pigs
  • That is, God does not give what is precious to
those that do not consider it precious

10
God Alone (cont.)
  • Jesus, Gods unique Son, bleed and died to secure
the grace we need to be whole
  • This grace is a pearl of great price to God
  • God will give us this grace to be whole when we
have learned to value it enough to hold on to it
and to permanently meld it into our lives
  • However, we must crave to be free from sin not
    simply the consequences of it

11
God Alone (cont.)
  • Ask God to give you a greater revelation of who
Christ is and the total desire to be just like Him
  • Think on, study, and pray Ephesians 117-23 and
    314-21 to understand these truths
  • Then, the next time God gives you the grace to be
whole, you will gladly cling to it as the
    invaluable treasure that it is
  • We will not be a pig but rather like the merchant
    in Matthew 1345, 46

12
God Alone (cont.)
  • Realize, it is in this context of seeking God and
responding to Him with all your heart, in His
power, that the teaching to Let God do it is
    understandable
  • Only in this atmosphere of hunger, dependency,
and willingness to obey - will God give His
holiness, reveal His perfect will, and entrust to
you the power to overcome the evil one in your
    life
  • Persistently ask God for these things

13
God Alone (cont.)
  • The purpose of life, its fulfillment and joy, and
the source of all desire and power to do the will
of God can only be found in an intimate love
    relationship with God
  • In coming to know Him, we come to love Him, learn
to trust Him, and are motivated to obey Him
  • The answer to every problem and every need is
found in simple, childlike love, and intimacy
    with God

14
God Alone (cont.)
  • In His arms, all of our doubts and fears, wants
and needs, hopes and joys find their resolution
    and fulfillment

15
God Alone (cont.)
  • To be free from bondage, to be whole, pursue
    intimacy with God Himself
  • He will reveal the rest, and in partnership with
your free will, He will transform you into the
image of His beloved Son - Jesus!
  • The journey continues...
