• SEII is a platform for European Industrialists,
  Engineers and governments where engineers debate,
  discuss and shape the future of European
  Industry.

• Individuals who combine scientific technical
  expertise with the courage to back their own
  judgement and make commitments. Some examples?
• Norman Borlaug, creator of the first Green
  Revolution Louis Pasteur Rudolf Diesel the
  Solvay family
• Inventor-innovators, like Swanson (venture
  capitalist) and Boyer (biochemist), creating
  Genentech in 1976, today a 40-billion-dollar
  market cap

A European Lisbon Agenda Platform bringing
together the representative bodies for engineers,
Industrialists, Financiers.Economists and
Academics, is urgently needed to dialog with the
European Commission and the European Parliament
to close the macro micro gap in order to produce
a realistic action plan

The Need to Change Attitudes

• The gap between rhetoric the Lisbon objective
  and practice unscientific over-regulation
• Misrepresentation of the precautionary
  principle always saying NO is also a
  high-risk strategy, which stops learning, doesnt
  eliminate uncertainty it should be dynamic,
  responsive to knowledge and experience
• Environment Ministers seduced by NGOs, listening
  only to what they want to hear, ignoring science
  e.g. great environmental benefits of modern
  biotech, for pest control, biodiversity
  (low-till / no-till agriculture)

A European Lisbon Agenda Platform is urgently
needed to dialog with European Indusry UNICE ,
SEFI. FEANI ,Eurochambres, ETUC , EUPME,
European Commission, European Parliament all
stakeholders.)?
