What is the JCI Best Business Plan Competition?
  • JCIs Flagship Program started in 2002 designed
    to foster the entrepreneurial spirit among its
    members and the community in general.
  • The competition is open to all young
    entrepreneurs between 18 - 40, JCI member or not.
  • As a result, JCI requests entries from its
    National Organization Members as well as from
    universities, ICC National Organizations, Local
    Chambers of Commerce, Young Entrepreneurs of
    Europe, and AIESEC.

National Competitions
  • National organizations must register there
    national BBP Competition with JCI HQ before
    January 31, 2005
  • If your NOM is having a national competition JCI
    will not accept public entries ONLY IF they have
    registered their program with us by January 31rst
  • If your NOM does not plan on having a national
    competition then JCI will accept public entries
    from your country

Local Competitions
  • Local chapters are encouraged to hold
    competitions and submit their winners to national
    competitions.
  • If your NOM is having a competition JCI will not
    accept entries directly from local chapters in
    your NOM

How to enter the JCI Best Business
Plan Competition?
  • Send the following documents to JCI HQ before the
    deadline
  • Entry Form
  • Downloadable at the JCI website www.jci.cc and on
    the JCI BizNet www.jci.cc/bz
  • The Executive Summary
  • 1-2 page document that provides a vision for the
    proposed venture, including the business or
    project concept, target customers or
    beneficiaries, competitiveness in the market, and
    revenue or benefit potential

How to enter the JCI Best Business Plan
Competition?
  • The Business Plan
  • Document of no more than 25 pages.
  • Helps guide the start-up company's first several
    years
  • Gives an idea of the company structure, goals and
    plans
  • All business plans must be for new full time
    start-up enterprises or businesses that have been
    legally established since June 1st, 2004 in order
    to qualify for the competition.

Judging Process
  • There will be 3 rounds to the BBP Competition
  • Preliminary round - 8 Semi-finalists will be
    chosen by a panel of judges from all public
    entries received by JCI Headquarters
  • Semi-Finals 4 finalists will be chosen by a
    panel of judges from all entries received
    through NOMs that held a National Competition
    along with the 8 chosen from the preliminary
    round
  • Finals - The 4 finalists will travel to the 2005
    World Congress to participate in the final round
    of judging

Judging Process
  • The judges are instructed to make their decisions
    based on the following criterion Criterion 1
    Innovative nature of the service/product offered
    Criterion 2 Impact of the business on local
    communities or the business community Criterion
    3 Service's/Product's profit projection
    Criterion 4 Relevance/Feasibility of the
    service/product Criterion 5 Presentation
    Criterion 6 Personal evaluation

JCI Best Business Plan Competition prizes for
finalists.
  • Finalists will be provided with
  • One economy airline ticket to 2005 JCI World
    Congress. (All participants must be willing to
    be present at Congress if selected as finalists)
  • Three night accommodations
  • One free Congress registration
  • All finalists will also receive certificates of
    participation
  • The winner will receive
  • a US5,000 check award as a start-up funding to
    help launch the business described in his or her
    winning plan.
