Private Out of State College Entrance
Requirements
  • Admission requirements vary by institution, but
    most follow similar UC/CSU guidelines in terms of
    subject requirements and test requirements.
  • Students should check with individual campuses
    admissions offices or visit their websites to
    determine current admission requirements.
  • Many private colleges require students to obtain
    a letter of recommendation

    Semi-Finalist

  • -A career interest inventory portion can help
    your student identify possible career paths
    and majors to consider after high school.
  • We recommend that students take BOTH to
    see which test suites them best!

  • There are 123 California Community Colleges
  • A few local Community Colleges
  • Mira Costa (Oceanside Cardiff) Palomar
  • San Diego City College Grossmont
  • TWO OPTIONS
  • 1. Students can receive an Associates Degree
    (A.A or an A.S)
  • -A basic college or vocational degree that can
    be earned in
  • approx. two-years if
    attending full-time
  • 2. Students can choose to transfer to a 4-year
    University to earn a
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of
    Science (B.A or B.S) degree.
  • TAG Program Guarantees admission to specific
    UC Campuses http//www.uctransfer.org/transfer

  • IGETC Program Guarantees coursework will be
    accepted by UC and
    CSU campuses http//www.igetc.org/

Community College
  • Entrance Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age OR
  • Earned a high school diploma OR equivalent
  • No SAT or ACT test requirement
  • How can my student take classes at a community
    college while at CCA?
  • 1. Fill out a concurrent enrollment form
  • 2. Have your student talk to their
    alpha-counselor
  • Assist.org Allows students to see which
    community college courses correspond to UC/Cal
    State courses and satisfy entrance or major
    requirements.

Off-Campus Courses
  • If you decide to take an off-campus course, AND
    want the course to appear on your CCA transcript,
    follow all of the steps below
  • Speak with your alpha-counselor PRIOR to
    registering for an off-campus course. He or she
    can determine if the course will meet graduation
    requirements and if adding the course to your
    transcript will benefit you.
  • Submit an OFF-CAMPUS PERMISSION FORM. It must be
    filled out completely, including all applicable
    signatures (student, counselor, registrar, and
    parent).
  • Once you have completed the course, it is YOUR
    responsibility to have an official transcript
    from the institution where you took the course
    sent directly to the CCA registrar.
  • Students can apply a maximum of 30 credits
    off-campus coursework to their high school
    transcript.

    campus in the college career center to answer
    any questions they may have

College Career Exploration
  • Students are encouraged to explore college and
    career options in a variety of ways
  • College Career Center (located in the
    Counseling Office) stop by to view college
    catalogues, attend a college visit, speak to
    College Career Center manager Darlene Burton.
  • Use the CHOICES and NAVIANCE programs, available
    on the Counseling website. Tutorial are available
    in the College Career Center on COUNSELING
    WEBSITE
  • 4x4 schedule allows for flexibility in
    scheduling- Students should take ROP Courses,
    Internship, Work Experience
  • -These courses provide hands-on, practical
    experience.

  • ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENT TO
  • Use the Choices and NAVIANCE Planners
  • Get involved in school (sports, clubs, Envision
    Conservatory, etc)
  • Communicate with teachers and counselors to ask
    questions!
