Title: Senior Presentation Template'''TIPS'''

1
Senior Presentation Template...TIPS...
  • The following PowerPoint outline is aligned with
requirements found in the Senior Presentation
Rubric. You will need to replace comments found
on the slides with your own presentation bullets.
REMEMBER to follow the Senior Presentation
Rubric when preparing for this presentation! The
following tips are provided to help you get the
most out of your use of this template
  • Presentation Length...You may add or subtract
from the slides provided, but remember that you
have 15 minutes to complete your presentation.
As a general rule, plan to stay on each
PowerPoint slide from 1 minute to no more than 3
    minutes.
  • Background and Font...If replacing the slide
background, consider using solid black or dark
blue with yellow and/or white font. Black font
on a white background is also good. Avoid
bright, extremely bold backgrounds. Look for a
professional blend of background and font while
emphasizing good contrast between the two. For
slide titles use font size of 28-36 and for body
text use a smaller font size, but no less than
    20. Using the bold function can add impact to
the title or other text. Select easy-to-read
fonts such as Arial or Verdana...avoid san-serif
fonts such as Times New Roman. Avoid Italics.
  • Use of Graphics...If using clipart, pictures or
other graphics, remember that the graphic should
compliment your presentation. In other words,
    select graphics carefully. Be particularly
cautious when using cartoons or other humorous
graphics as they might be interpreted as
    offensive and/or unprofessional. Be consistent
with use of graphics and avoid flashy and noisy
    animation effects.
  • General tips...Use the least number of words
per bullet possible. Remember that the panel is
there to hear what you have to say, not to hear
you read from the screen. Practice will help you
to hold the number of words on each bullet/line
(thought) to a minimum. A general rule is to use
no more than 6 words per line and no more than 6
lines per slide. Use all caps for titles only.
Limit the number of transitions. CHECK SPELLING
AND GRAMMAR! Consider printing out note taker
copies of the slides for the panel.
  • IMPORTANT...Remember to save a copy of your
PowerPoint presentation in your folder on the
student drive AND one other source such as a
flash drive that you will bring with you to your
presentation. Save your PowerPoint file in an
older format (such as PowerPoint 2003) as school
    computers are usually older.
