  • National Implementation of the European
    Parliament breast cancer resolution of 2003 ED
    conducted a survey which showed low acceptance
    among member Fora. Our advocacy 2005 programmes
    aim to get European Parliamentarians (EU 25) to
    understand it and work on acceptance by national
    health ministers 2 expert meetings with EPGBC
    will be held this year and exhibit and reception
    in October

  • Establishment of screening programmes set up
    according to guidelines the above work is
    highlighting this need and is beginning to show
    results. (1st EPGBC meeting highlighted
    importance of screening according to guidelines,
    the 2nd will address cost to national
    governments)
  • Establishment of specialist breast units ED to
    continue work with EUSOMA and the Commission to
    get guidelines accepted on a Europe-wide basis.
    ED to work with EUSOMA to roll out and refine
    accreditation process and then disseminate
    information on it, enabling European women to
    access state of the art breast services

  • Clinical trial committees advocates are now
    frequently asked to sit on committees we must
    now define the role of advocates on these
    committees to ensure their input is valued and
    taken into account in all the appropriate areas.
    This needs to be further encouraged.
  • Establish new fora and maintain level of
    commitment in the current Fora.
  • Training advocates through annual advocacy
    training course-this course is the cornerstone of
    building uo advocacy networks in the various
    counties.

  • ED 7th Pan-European conference this serves to
    bring together all members share concerns
    ensure that everyone undestands all the key
    lobbying issues etc. and the ten Pan European
    goals.
  • Hold the young womans working group to
    understand needs and issues of this group, the
    special needs of young women, the first working
    group will be held in Milan in June 2005.

  • Raise awareness of treatment tailoring. The
    importance of ED in the projects such as TRANSBIG
  • Delineate clear list of breast cancer patients
    rights-need to have a clear understanding of
    these rights
