Title: Auger Collaboration Meeting Report

1
Auger Collaboration Meeting Report
  • ???

2
Status of Detectors
  • As of Dec. 2004,
  • 562 surface detectors (SD) are taking data
  • 616 stations are deployed in the field
  • Deployment rate is limited by the ability to
deliver water to the tanks in the field
  • (72 per month)

headquarter)

Collaboration Meeting Discussion Items
  • Angular Accuracy
  • Fluorescence Detector (FD) energy determination
    and systems
  • SD energy determination and systems
  • FD/Hybrid Analysis and Alignment
  • Elongation Rate and SD Composition
  • Horizontal Showers
  • Anisotropy
  • Auger North
  • Upgrade Plan

Some Highlights of Science
  • Based on gt1 year data
  • So far there seems to be no strong signal toward
    the GC (very strong)
  • There appears to be no correlation with the
    BLAZARs
  • Data have been analyzed by Chicago group and UCLA
group to obtain the spectrum at high energy not
enough to support HIRES or AGASA result yet.

9
Meeting with important people
  • Korea is welcome to join the collaboration
  • Contribution of 100,000 per year would be
    minimum (plus 3000/person/year)
  • Cash for water tank would be most valuable, but
there are other possibilities (e.g., coaxial
cable from PMT to electronic box)

10
Personal Impression on COREA
  • Joining AUGER project seems to be absolutely
    necessary since,
  • (1) Hardware fabrication appears to be
    difficult, but can be done
  • (2) Software data analysis would be very
complicated and we need to train ourselves with
    the help of the experts
  • (3) Competition in high end of energy seems to
be difficult, and we could concentrate on lower
    energy band
