Aims of the presentation

• We will work together to
• Raise our understanding of the meaning of
  Sectarianism
• Raise our awareness of the impact of Sectarianism
  on us and our young people
• Look at how we can challenge Sectarianism

  importance to perceived differences between

Our Story How Nil by Mouth began

• Mark Scott was 16 when he was murdered
• He was walking down a busy street at around
  5.15pm on a Saturday afternoon
• His attacker cut his throat and he died within a
  minute

• Cara Henderson set up Nil by Mouth in response
  to this senseless murder.

  his first breath coming into the world and three
  months later I saw this young boy take his last
  breath lying in a Glasgow street.

In Our View Sectarianism is

• Narrow-minded beliefs that lead to prejudice,
  bigotry, discrimination, malice and ill-will
  towards members, or presumed members, of another
  denomination
• Sectarianism can occur in different ways, either
  at an individual, group, cultural or
  institutional level
